avett brothers, halloween, and new crafts.

my twin & i turned 21 the day before halloween.
what a day it was.
we drove down to louisville to see the avett brothers!
nothing better than that :)

an incredible show with lots of songs from their new album,
and a very sentimental encore song.
then we hit up the town afterward for some dinner and a couple drinks...
at tgif's haha.

then there was halloween.
i was a leopard/kitten and tim was a killer lumberjack.
we went with a couple of our friends and got so much candy!!

such a great halloween!

and, my sister has been making some amazing things!
little baby onesies made from vintage shirts.
so clever and unique.
if you know a baby, get one.

life is good.
i think i'm going down to nashville tomorrow.
due to miscommunications and messed up plans.
but, oh well.
it's worth it to see my honey for 2 more weeks.

the next step in wedding projects is...
save-the-dates!

now, i wasn't sure if i wanted to send them out or not,
but we've got friends & family coming from all over...
i think we need to give them as much notice as possible.

and plus, it's an excuse to do another project!

i hand-drew t+c on all of them.
i love them...

i'll post a photo of the actual cards when we send them out.
they should be done by the end of the month!

tim & ky are visiting, so i'll have some help finishing them up.

222 days until may 22nd!
so many 2's!!

i love this photo of seth avett.

captured by crackerfarm.

it's so raw and classic and beautiful.

it probably helps because of the subject matter.
i listened to the new avett brothers album this morning at work.
something about them make being up at 4:30 in the morning just wonderful.
i don't think i've ever been so happy to set up the pastry case at the crack of dawn.

they were on letterman and craig ferguson.
i think the ferguson performance was much better.
showed their true selves.

i know when i get older, i'll have their songs to remind me of these days...
the good ones as well as the bad.

if you have a chance to see them live, do it.
you won't regret it...i promise.

life is great.

i went to the apple orchard with some friends yesterday.
apparently, the best apples are at the top.
this proves to be difficult when you're not a cheerleader ;)

oh, and i love my best friend genni :)

my boss got married on saturday!
i've got lots of photos that i'll post soon.
my workmates & i tore up the dance floor all night.
such a blast.

i made these a few nights ago.
they are strands of faux-flower petals strung together...
kind of like popcorn at christmas-time!

i'm not sure where to hang these...

ideas:
reception ceiling
on the gazebo
around doorways at reception

i love them and i think they're going to add a cute, whimsical feel.

so far, i've been drawn to whimsical peachy-pink, vintage things.
sounds like a good start to a wedding celebration!!

little clay hearts.

i was walking around michael's craft store last night,
and this project just came to me!

i thought it would be so fun to make little clay hearts to use
as props for the photobooth at our reception!

so, at 1 in the morning, my brother & i finished up these little guys.

they're so guests can "blow kisses" in the photobooth.
i love them!
i know tim and i and all our guests will get some really cute photos with these.

i've started some other projects that are quite fun & pretty.
oh, and i found my wedding shoes! they're adorable.
maybe i'll post a photo, but i don't think i want tim to see them ;)

wedding projects!!

i've been a busy wedding bee lately.
i've actually had the last few days off work.

my mom & i found an AMAZING place for the recpetion!!
it's about 3 minutes away from where we're getting married. how perfect!

it's a pavilion in a park.
gorgeous wood-beam ceiling, exposed brick walls, plenty of room for dancing!

and i found this incredible galvenized water cooler.
we plan on making a sign for it that says "christen & tims sweetheart lemonade"
and setting it up at the ceremony near the programs.
that way people can relax and have some lemonade while they wait :)

i also found this cute little tablecloth at an antique store.

wedding projects are in full swing.
collecting little vintage statues, making fabric flag banners,
designing logos & save-the-dates, collecting old frames for the centerpieces...

i've got a box going with all my "finished wedding projects":

one of the fabric banners. we're gonna hang these in the trees as you walk up the aisle.

a frame i found for the centerpieces. everything will sit on vintage frames (minus the cheesy fall photo!)

inside the box!
these little wonders will make up the centerpieces.

it takes a lot of time & effort to keep these projects going,
but it's so much fun.
i'm really enjoying this :)

i can't wait for tim to be in town so we can do projects together!
he is still on the road, and i miss him so very much.

but i've got may 22nd to look forward to :) 245 days.

the date is pretty much set. we're just working on getting our save-the-dates put together!

but i'll just put it this way...it'll be one great day in may :)

it's official!!
tim asked me to be his wife :)
we were in nashville...

we set up a little picnic in a garden, under some trees, near a stream.
we ate pita chips and hummus and drank pomegranate juice.
he said he had a couple surprises.
i closed my eyes and put out my hands,
and he put a hand-made book in them.
i read the story out loud.
it was about a handsome cowboy and dashing maiden who fell in love.
at the end, the cowboy got down on one knee and asked,

"will you marry me christen jean?"

i looked at him, and he was down on one knee with the ring!!!
i don't think my heart has ever pounded so hard.
it was amazing.
i said yes, of course!

we're planning on getting married next year.
lord willing, we'll set a date SOON.
people are coming from new zealand! we've got to give them some time, right?

i work a long, long day tomorrow (13 hours!),
then i'm driving down to nashville to see my love.

kylie, my parents, and i are making the drive on tuesday.

tim and i have some plans, which include:

-tennessee antique mall
-seeing 500 days of summer (zooey deschanel!)
-going to an awesome jump spot on a lake
-going to a little cafe on the outskirts of nashville
-maybe the zoo
-horseback riding if we have enough money
-getting awesome coffee from crema
-and, of course, spening as much time as possible together

yep, i'm excited.
lord let tomorrow go by quickly!!
